Here are just a few of my favorite blogs. It’s not everybody, because I get bad at remembering things. Seriously, I forgot my phone number when the cashier asked me at Ulta this morning. Visit them.
Renee A. Schuls-Jacobson’s blog – Because Life Doesn’t Fit Into a File Folder. – Please don’t confuse the title of her blog with anything having to do with “binders full of women.” Nobody puts Renee in a binder. Nobody. She’s the kind of woman you meet and think, “I wish I had sparkly glasses like her.” And I don’t care what you say.
Everyone needs a sparkly pair of glasses.
Right to Bitch – I discovered Adam when he was “Freshly Pressed” and am so glad I did. He is so funny he makes me pee my pants. Yes, that funny. And ok – I HAVE had two kids so that may not sound like a challenge but it is. It just IS. My favorite post is “Hypothetically Speaking.”
Writing, Wishing – I love Alison’s writing and her adorable babies. She gets around A LOT.
I mean – like in the blogging world, not any other way. Sheesh.
Erin Margolin – I have known Erin as a blogger for a long time. She is a great writer and a huge advocate for gay marriage. This is one of the reasons why. One of my favorite posts by her is called Falling & Flying. And we all know how much I love “the gays” as my grandmother would say.
Just kidding. My grandma didn’t speak a word of English and I don’t know how to say gay in Hindi.
MODG – As her tagline says, “I do important things. Like your mom.” Preppy girls don’t like her because she talks about poop.
That’s my kind of girl. Word.
An Inch of Gray – I heart Anna. She was one of the first ten people to ever comment on my blog (along with my sister and the three other fake readers I made up*) to generate “buzz” about my content. It didn’t work. Sometimes bad things happen to not just good people, but amazing people. I hope you read her story and appreciate what she shares on her blog. It’s pretty sacred.
A Day in the Life of Surferwife – She doesn’t surf, because EWW. That would make her hair wet. She is my blogging best friend, before I knew people even made friends blogging. So weird. Now she has moved on to cooler people like Heather MacDonald, Sarah Colonna, Jenny McCarthy and Chelsea Handler. Am I threatened?
Ask me when she becomes besties with Alyssa Milano. That’s the deal breaker for me.
Single Dad Laughing – What to say about Dan other than he is an amazingly gifted writer, dad and blogger? I think he’s good at other stuff too, but the whole triple threat thing is kind of enough for now. If you did not read his extremely brave and important coming out post, I highly suggest both that and his post, “I’m Christian, Unless You’re Gay.”
Family Rocks: The Life of Peg – Peg is an amazing woman I know who went through a terrible tragedy a few years ago. Since then, her family has rebuilt itself after facing devastating grief and change. While Peg can express her grief extremely well, other days, she “likes to think about that grief as a little jar that I keep on a back shelf, a little out of reach, but always within my sight” so she can move on for her family.
Her words make me want to hug her from across this screen.
Creative Liar – Ericka Clay “lies because the truth makes her cry.” Um, hello…? Can I say soul sister?
Ericka “tells fictional truths. They’re sort of like real truths but look better in a pair of Skechers Shape Ups.” Isn’t everybody doing that nowadays? Really? Oh.** “I deal with depression and anxiety which makes me uber fun at times and not so uber fun at other times. I write a humor blog because if you can’t laugh, you’ll cry and as everyone knows, crying is for baby pandas.”
Lemon Gloria – Because if nobody sees your dark side, they just think your perky. She prefers to think of herself as an International Woman of Mystery. Like a Bond Girl, I think. She is quite pretty, she could pass. Raising her two kids Jordan and India in DC, Lisa “brings the funny.”
The Fierce Diva Guide to Life – Meet Ilene. Ilene is a yoga teacher, freelance writer, mother of 3, vegetarian, runner, lover of eyeliner, incense, and skullcaps, believer in possibilities, and a highly flawed individual. She is not <FIERCE> like this. She is more *fierce* like this, which is a nice fierce, don’t you agree?
Scarymommy – Jill Smokler is NOT scary. She is one of the most down to earth people I have met. Despite how busy she is, she still finds time to help support new writers, the community and still write some good-ass posts. She is passionate about what she believes in and she will say it without pause.
That is so badass.
Others I also love and will write more about later:
* Seriously, nobody else did that? Shit. Oh. Well good for you.
